Marketing
The Mill House marketing program has led to occupancy rates that are well above any local or national standards. One reason for our success is our selection of quality properties in great locations in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area. The majority of our properties are within two miles of downtown Chapel Hill and the UNC campus. Another reason for our success is our marketing locally and nationally through the use of targeted print media and a variety of web sites.

  • Print advertising includes: The Daily Tar Heel, The Chapel Hill News, Carolina Alumni Review (seasonal), University Directories “Heel Planner “and the Plan It Chapel HIll. These planners are given to students and available at the UNC Student Store.
  • Web advertising includes: the Triangle Multiple Listing Service (TMLS), the TMLS web partners which includes Yahoo Real Estate, AOL Real Estate, Zillow.com, HomeFinder.com, Lycos.com, Homes&Land.com and many more. We also regularly update our listings on craigslist.com and chapelhillrent.com.
  • The Mill House WAIT LIST: our wait list begins in the fall for the following fall semester. By Thanksgiving we typically have hundreds of students signed up nearly a year in advance of needing new housing. Our goal each year is to have our student housing leased by Spring Break, which is usually the second week in March.
  • Mill House yard signs: we use yard signs when needed to draw attention to specific properties, however most of our properties rent before a yard sign is needed.
